Fair Pay for Extra Work

Manual OT tracking is a major source of payroll errors and employee dissatisfaction. Kiework automates the entire process from calculation to payout.

  • Policy-Based Calculation

Define rules: Early OT, Late OT, Weekend OT. Set multipliers (1.5x, 2x) automatically.

  • Pre-Approval Workflow

Require managers to pre-approve OT hours before they are worked to control costs.

  • Comp-Off vs Payout

Give employees the choice to encash OT or convert it into Compensatory Off leave balance.

Turning Overtime from a Leak into a Lever

Overtime (OT) is a double-edged sword. Used strategically, it allows businesses to meet surge demand without increasing headcount. Managed poorly, it bleeds profitability through inflated labor costs and employee burnout. Kiework’s Overtime Management module is designed to give you visibility and control over this critical variable.

The Approval Gap

In many companies, OT is claimed retrospectively. "I stayed late last week, please pay me." This lack of pre-authorization is the primary cause of cost overruns. Kiework enforces a "Pre-Approval" workflow. Managers must approve OT requests before or during the shift extension. This ensures that extra cost is incurred only when there is a genuine business need, not just because an employee worked slowly.

Complex Calculation Logic

Calculating OT isn't simple. Is it 1.5x or 2x? Does it apply after 8 hours or 9? What about weekends? Kiework’s policy engine handles this complexity. You can define rules like "First 2 hours at 1.0x, subsequent hours at 2.0x" or "Sunday work is flat 2.0x." The system reads the punch logs, applies the logic, and generates the payable hours automatically. This eliminates manual Excel math and ensures you are compliant with local labor laws (like the Factories Act).

Compensatory Off (Comp-Off)

Not all OT needs to be paid in cash. Kiework supports "Comp-Off" banking. Extra hours worked can be converted into leave credits, which the employee can redeem later for a paid day off. This helps businesses manage cash flow while still rewarding employees fairly for their extra time. The system tracks the expiry of these credits, ensuring liabilities don't pile up indefinitely on the books.
